The Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus: Meaning, History, and How to Pray It Reading The Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus: Full Text and Printable Prayer 5 minutes

One of the six public litanies of the Catholic Church — approved for public use by decree of the Sacred Congregation of Rites, April 2, 1899.

The Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus has been prayed by Catholics for over three centuries. It was formally approved for public use by Pope Leo XIII in 1899 — the same year he consecrated the entire human race to the Sacred Heart in his encyclical Annum Sacrum.

It is one of only six litanies approved by the Church for public use. A partial indulgence is attached to its recitation.
