The Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary

The Glorious Mysteries focus on the Resurrection and the glory of heaven. They are traditionally prayed on Wednesdays and Sundays with the rosary.

These mysteries celebrate Christ's victory over death and the promise of eternal life.

The Five Glorious Mysteries

1. The Resurrection

Scripture: Matthew 28:1-10

On the third day, Jesus rises from the dead. The angel tells the women at the tomb: "He is not here, for he has been raised."

Meditation: Christ conquers death. We are reminded that death does not have the final word—life does.

2. The Ascension

Scripture: Acts 1:6-11

Forty days after the Resurrection, Jesus ascends into heaven. The disciples watch as he is lifted up, and a cloud takes him from their sight.

Meditation: Jesus returns to the Father. We are reminded that our true home is in heaven.

3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit

Scripture: Acts 2:1-4

On Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descends upon the apostles like tongues of fire. They are filled with courage and begin to proclaim the Gospel.

Meditation: The Holy Spirit transforms us. We are called to be bold witnesses of Christ in the world.

4. The Assumption of Mary

Scripture: Revelation 12:1

At the end of her earthly life, Mary is assumed body and soul into heaven.

Meditation: Mary is crowned as Queen of Heaven. We are reminded that God honors those who remain faithful.

5. The Coronation of Mary

Scripture: Revelation 12:1

Mary is crowned as Queen of Heaven and Earth.

Meditation: Mary intercedes for us before the throne of God. We are reminded that she is our mother and advocate.
